Schools, parks, and municipalities in three northeastern Pennsylvania counties recently got a roughly $5 million funding boost in the form of Local Share Account (LSA) grants and Public School Facility Improvement grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

Pike County allocations totaled $750,000, while Susquehanna County received over $2.7 million and Wayne County got over $1.6 million. The funding announcement was made through a joint statement issued by Reps. Jonathan Fritz (R-111) and Jeff Olsommer (R-189), and Sens. Lisa Baker (R-20) and Rosemary Brown (R-40).

“This funding will support a range of improvement projects that directly benefit our residents and enhance the quality of life across the area,” the legislators said in a joint announcement. “Our collaboration enables us to effectively deliver for the communities we serve. In so doing, our region continues to prosper and see enhancements in quality of life. That’s a trend that we want to see continue.”

For Pike County, the Delaware Valley School District received $300,000 for a roof replacement at middle/high school complex, Matamoras Borough received $150,000 to renovate the borough’s municipal building, Milford Borough received $200,000 to improve Ann Street Park, and Milford Township received $100,000 for improvements to the Milford Township municipal facility.

“Helping our schools and municipalities thrive is always a central aim, and we are thrilled to bring these dollars home to our rural communities,” the legislators said. “We commend the organizations and school districts for submitting these projects to upgrade our community facilities.”
