American Cancer Society to host Daffodil Days
MILFORD — Kathy Maida chaired the first meeting of the 2013 American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Pike County Daffodil Days campaign committee, on Jan. 9.
Joined by Pike and Wayne Counties’ Income Development Representative Nicole Jorgensen and current committee volunteers, Maida’s kick-off meeting was set to coordinate activities for the upcoming 40th Annual Pike County Daffodil Days fundraiser.
While official retail sales are planned for mid-March, advance orders are available beginning the first week in February with local ACS volunteers visiting businesses, schools, professionals and organizations to provide advance order form sign up sheets.
Available this year will be the traditional bunches of daffodils, a vase and a bunch, potted mini daffodils, and this year’s collectable “Ray O. Hope” Boyds Bear. There is also a special opportunity to send an anonymous Boyds Bear to a local child with cancer through the Project Care program.
“Literally hundreds of individuals, businesses and organizations have found the Pre-Sales Order Form process to be the easiest way to assure their participation in this most important local fundraiser,” says Maida, noting that this upcoming February program is responsible for meeting a large percent of our annual Pike County Daffodil Days fundraising goal.
