Black Bear Film Festival offers acting class to local teenagers
MILFORD — The Black Bear Film Festival will offer a beginning acting class for interested high students, ages 14 to 19, from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Pile Country Library in Milford, according to Community Outreach Director Lenore Fasula.
Robert John Keiber, an actor, writer, director for 40 years, will lead the class. He is best known for creating the character of Kit on ABC’s popular "All My Children." He's also appeared in hundreds of TV commercials, television and stage dramas. His recent film credits include "Trust Me I’m a Lifeguard" and a new feature film shot here in Pennsylvania titled "Let’s Kill Grandpa for Christmas."
His first book of five is titled "Fear Is Good," which is the basis for his "acting for non-actors" workshops. He is co-Founder of The New York Actor’s School in Manhattan.
“Acting classes will never be a waste of time for children or adults," he said. "They can build confidence, communication skills, and self-esteem for anyone. I tell everybody, take an acting class. It will do you a world of good."
He said the class will be easy to follow.
"No emotional mumbo jumbo here, just a comfortable, friendly environment to try your wings," he said. "I’ve been teaching acting and communication at my acting schools and several colleges for over 40 years, I am an experience teacher, as well as an experience acting professional. As a result I’ve developed a very understandable, practical approach to communication, which is what acting is all about.”
The class is being offered as part of the festival's commitment to community outreach. Space is limited. For more information or to reserve a spot call 570-409-0909.
