Calling all girls with American Girl dolls
NARROWSBURG, N.Y. — Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History is holding an American Girl Doll Day on Aug. 17.
Girls of all ages are invited to bring their American Girl dolls and learn how to make Colonial mob caps for themselves and their dolls, sample some Colonial treats, and hear stories of the real life American girls who lived in the Upper Delaware River valley in Colonial Cushetunk.
A raffle drawing for the beloved American Girl Doll "Felicity, 1774" — and all her accoutrements — will take place at 3 p.m. that day.
Felicity tells the story of growing up in Colonial America. The 18-inch doll was archived in 2011, making her a rare and valuable Collectors' Item. She will come complete with appropriate period accessories and reading materials.
There are three chances to win. Second Prize is the American Girl book “Welcome to Felicity’s World” while Third Prize is two American Girl Books: “Changes for Felicity” and “Felicity’s Cook Book: A Peek at Dining in the Past with Meals You Can Cook Today.”
Raffle tickets, which will be available right up to the drawing that day, are $2 each; or three for $5 at the Fort Delaware Museum Gift Shop (6615 State Route 97, Narrowsburg, NY 12764). Checks made payable to "The Delaware Company" can be mailed to: PO Box 185, Barryville, NY 12719. Include contact information and stubs will be mailed back.
The Colonial crafts and treats are included with the price of admission to the Fort. But seating is limited, so pre-registration is required. Call 845-252-6660 by Aug. 16.
