— Delaware Valley Middle School in October conducted a Career Day for eighth graders.
The event was planned and directed by Kim Palko, seventh- and eighth-grade school counselor for the middle school.
After surveying the students for their interest areas, students were given the opportunity to attend small group sessions with career speakers. Twenty-three presenters were invited by student request to attend the sessions.
Presenters offered an overview of their career and incorporated unique personal experiences into their session.
This event afforded the students the opportunity to see a multifaceted view of several careers. They learned the practical aspects of education and preparation for a career, the personal commitment that is required, and the rewards and satisfactions that the presenters experience in their chosen occupation.
The students and the faculty were pleased to have this opportunity at the Delaware Valley Middle School.
