Christine Agron
MILFORD. Christine Agron (Democratic/Republican) is running for re-election to the Delaware Valley school board.
Why are you running for school board?
I am running for the Delaware Valley school board because I believe in DV. We have built a culture of academic excellence, diversity of offerings, and a nurturing environment. I’m looking forward to continuing these successes while always looking for ways to improve.
What are the top three issues facing the district today, and how do you plan to address them?
The biggest challenge our school board faces is maintaining academic excellence and diverse extra-curricular offerings while keeping taxes low. The school board has worked closely with the administration to pass budgets with a zero percent tax increase five of the last eight years.
Secondly, the board has maintained a “parent choice” approach to education against the desires of a few who want to dictate what your children learn. We respect the differing opinions of parents regarding classroom assignments and allow a parent to opt their student out of an assignment by completing an alternate assignment, a long-standing practice at DV.
Finally, the board is challenged to continue to find new ways to engage students and support their wide variety of interests. Attending school and district events and talking with parents are two ways in which I stay informed.
What sets you apart from your challengers?
I have volunteered in all three Dingmans schools and have served on the PTA since 2015, the last five years on the executive board as treasurer. Through my service, I have learned how the schools operate, and I have built relationships with our staff, which has facilitated honest conversations about what we’re doing right and where we need to improve.
Feel free to add information about your background and qualifications.
It is an honor to serve as a Delaware Valley School District Board Director, a natural progression from my years of service to the district. I have leveraged all of the knowledge gained over these years to make responsible and informed decisions as a board director. I look forward to serving DV and our community for years to come!
