Milford Township’s comprehensive plan is making progress. At the August 19 Board of Supervisors meeting, the members noted that the planning board should have the final version of the plan ready by the week of August 26 and then move the plan to county planning for comment and approval after that.

Funds and expenses

In other news, the board awarded a bid the Schocopee Road bridge repair work. They had referenced four bids to the town engineer and he approved the low bid of $47,000.

The board again noted that it was time to allocate the rest of the ARPA (American Rescue Plan) funds. As previously reported, they had about $27,000 in ARPA funds still available, which they will spend on renovating the Town Hall bathroom, engineering work, and on salary and attorney costs.

The board has not heard back on an LSA grant request for improvements to its parking lot. They voted to reapply for a LSA grant for the parking lot, as well as carpeting and building improvements. Their deadline is September 30.

Ordinance changes

The board discussed advertising for a public hearing on an amendment to Section 602.2 of the township’s zoning ordinance. The amendment would enhance information that must be submitted with zoning applications. The township had received feedback from the county to include the quantity of materials stored on the zoning application. They will send the revised version of the resolution to the county and await further feedback before choosing a public hearing date.

The board set a September 16 date for a public hearing to add language to its zoning ordinance regarding motor vehicle sales. The language pertains to equipment sales and rentals.

Other business

Nine people from town government will attend the Pike County Township Supervisors’ County PSATS convention on October 4. The board voted to approve a $50 gift certificate as a door prize for the event.

The board voted for a $1 per hour wage increase for assistant secretary/treasurer Michele Long, who completed her 90-day period with the town. The board also appointed Scott Keener to be a Zoning Board alternate member for a three-year term.
