Milford. The Pike County Commissioners say only an estimated 20% of solid waste generated in the county is recycled. To aid residents in making informed decisions, the Pike County Office of Community Planning recently released a Residential Recycling Services Guide.
The guide stresses the environmental benefits of recycling, while providing up-to-date information on recycling programs available locally.
Using infographics, the guide offers recycling dos and don’ts, best practices, and tips for waste reduction. It provides a list of public recycling and yard waste services organized by municipality, along with contact information and program details. Most municipalities in Pike contract with private haulers. The county itself ended its recycling program years ago.
Also included in the guide is a table containing information on private recycling services.
