Conservation District to demystify drinking water basics
Hawley. The first 15 Pike County private well owners to register get a free water test kit.
Registration is now open for the March installment of the “From Source to Sink” workshop series to be held on March 3, 2025, at the Lackawaxen Township Building. Registration is also open for two other workshop dates: January 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pike County Conservation District Office at 556 Route 402 in Hawley, and February 3 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Delaware Township Building at 116 Wilson Hill Road in Dingmans Ferry. Participants will learn about drinking water basics, common contaminants, wells, protecting the drinking water source, zones of protection, and resources for avoiding common contaminants.
The first 15 Pike County private well owners to register for these events will receive a free water test kit and shipping voucher from Penn State Ag Analytical Services lab. Seating for the educational program is limited, and registration for each workshop will close once the program reaches full capacity of 30 households. Registration also closes at 4:30 p.m. the Thursday before each workshop is scheduled to take place. To register, visit bit.ly/pccdsource2sink. Only complete one registration per household, as the water test kits and shipping vouchers will be distributed by household.
Everyone interested from within and outside Pike County are welcome to join and learn about source water protection. If you have any questions, contact PCCD Watershed Specialist Rachael Marques at rmarques@pikepa.org or 570-226-8220.
These programs are being organized by the Pike County Conservation District with funding from a PA DEP mini-grant and held in partnership with Penn State Extension, Penn State Ag Analytical Services Lab, and PA Rural Water.
