Darren Boch named as acting superintendent at Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River
BEECH LAKE. Darren Boch arrived at the park on June 8 and expects to be operate in an acting capacity through September. He is currently the superintendent at the Paterson Great Falls National Historic Park in Paterson, N.J.
The National Park Service named Darren Boch as the acting superintendent of Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River.
He will arrive at the park on June 8 and is expected to serve in an acting capacity through September.
Boch currently serves as the Superintendent at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park, a unit of the National Park Service located in Paterson, N.J. Paterson, which is located on the Passaic River just 15 miles west of New York City, was founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1792 as America’s first planned industrial city. The park was established in 2011 and Boch was named the unit’s first superintendent.
“I’m very much looking forward to heading north to live and work alongside the many partners, communities, volunteers, and staff who labor to keep the Upper Delaware as pristine as it is,” said Boch. “As a visitor to the park I was struck by the beauty of the river and I feel truly honored to now have the opportunity to play a role, even for a short time, with the protection of those resources.”
Prior to becoming the first superintendent for the Paterson Great Falls, Darren served as the Chief of Public Affairs for the National Parks of New York Harbor, comprised of all national parks in New York City, to include such iconic national monuments as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Grant’s Tomb.
Before coming to the National Park Service in 2006, Darren served as the director of communications for the mayor of Jersey City, N.J., and later as a vice president in a public affairs firm. A Paterson, N.J., native, he’s a graduate of Southern Illinois University and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. Darren resides in Parsippany, NJ along with his wife and three children.
