DDMS art students 'bear up' for film festival
DINGMANS FERRY — Inspired by the beautiful golf courses here in NEPA, Mrs. Laurie Yatsonsky of the Dingman-Delaware Middle School invited her students to help her create a “Golf Bear” for this fall’s Black Bear Film Festival in Milford. Yatsonsky, a sculptor and furniture maker, has been an artist/educator in the district for 15 years. However, three 8th-grade boys in particular took ownership of "Golf Bear" — Frankie Amodio, Vincent Scordato, and Joshua Shephard.
Amodio, who volunteered some of his study hall time to help drill holes for the bear's shoes and base, noted, “It took three days to put his shoes on, but it was cool when I finally got it done.”
Scordato, who helped with painting and lacquering, agreed, “It was fun, but there were lots of nooks and crannies that I had to get paint into to get the clothes done right.”
Each of these proud artists invites the community to check out their bear, to be be displayed as a part of the Bear Walk leading up to the festival. For more information, visit: http://blackbearfilm.com
