Delaware Valley Action! will host a “Roundtable on Mercy” featuring local faith leaders from houses of worship across the Pike County area. Last month, Episcopal Bishop Mariann Budde, of the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., delivered a sermon around the issue of mercy for those most vulnerable in our communities, noting that they are “scared now.” She cited fears of deportation; discrimination; family separations; and cutbacks in critical housing, food, and public assistance. Building on the sermon about these issues, Delaware Valley Action! is assembling local faith leaders for a public roundtable on March 12 about how to respond to these issues from their diverse faith perspectives.

Delaware Valley Action! said invitations to participate have been sent to faith leaders throughout the area. So far, those participating include Darrell Berger of the Unitarian Universalists, Ralph Pinto of the National Association for an Inclusive Ministry, Rev. Jenn Lovallo of the Milford United Methodist Church, Yehudit Moch of the Jewish Fellowship of Hemlock Farms, and retired Episcopal priest Rev. Martha Bonwitt. Additional faith leaders are also encouraged to participate.

The Roundtable on Mercy will take place on Wednesday, March 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Delaware Valley Action! Community Engagement Center at 315 Broad Street in Milford (off the parking lot next to JEM Printing). The general public is invited to participate and share views about their own faith perspective on how mercy affects interactions with members of the Pike County and tri-state communities.
