Delaware Valley Middle School Career Day




MILFORD — On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Delaware Valley Middle School conducted a Career Day for 8th grade students. The event was planned and directed by Kim Palko, 7/8 grade guidance counselor for the middle school.
Students had the opportunity to attend three sessions out of the 27 that were presented.
Career information was provided by the following guest speakers: Marc Valentine, acting; Sgt. Scott Seltzer, United States Army bomb specialist; Dr. Tom Gioglio, athletic director at East Stroudsburg University; Mike Dobrzyn, automotive; Brittany Cooper, business management; Jessica Adler, childcare; Katie Ord, asst. field hockey coach at East Stroudsburg University; Ray Wehner, chef; Mark Toussaint and Ryan Kuhn, construction/electrician; Michael Jones, detective; Sarah Wilson, district attorney; Eugene Ruzanski, civil and structural engineer; Dr. Jijy Easow, gastroenterologist; Jennifer Krzynowek, graphic design; Sebastian Kiraly, interior design; Chris Jones, journalism; Greg Protsko, military; John Broderson, musician; Obie Kaye, musician; Peter VanWort, paramedic; Jennifer Murphy, personal trainer; Steve Connolly, pilot and military; Vivian Bruno-Garcia, social worker; Sgt. Paul Cavallaro, state police; Angela Gutierrez, teacher; Ryan Balton, television and film production; Dr. Heather Dein, veterinarian.
Presenters offered an overview of their career and incorporated personal experiences into their session. This event afforded the students the opportunity to see a multifaceted view of a career. They learned the practical aspects of education and preparation for a career, the personal commitment that is required, and the rewards and satisfactions each of these representatives experience in their chosen occupation.
