Delaware Valley teens create puzzle book for seniors
Milford. The books are available upon request through the Pike County Area Agency on Aging office.
The Pike County Area Agency on Aging recently began distributing puzzle books to any resident that’s part of its Home Delivered Meal program, and has expanded the offering to any senior who wants one.
The puzzle books were part of a collaboration between the Agency and Delaware Valley High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) to help combat social isolation among seniors. FLBA created the puzzle book, and FBLA members Mia Thompson and Anna Vogel also put together gift bags full of activities for seniors to enjoy to help disrupt the social isolation often felt during the county’s long, cold winters.
Pike’s Area Agency on Aging also noted that multi-generational contact has been proven to dispel loneliness and help educate seniors on current trends or issues.
“We are looking forward to much more interactions from our younger generation,” the Agency said in its newsletter announcing the collaboration.
The puzzle books are available at the Pike County Area Agency on Aging office at 150 Pike County Blvd, Lords Valley. For questions, call 570-775-5550 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
