Donations and sponsors needed for Saturday's tree lighting
Milford. Got whipped cream? How about baked goods? The organizers of the beloved annual celebration could use your help.
Milford could use some help with its annual tree lighting celebration with Santa coming up this Saturday.
Donations of the following items are needed:
• Hot/coffee cups for hot cocoa
• Baked goods, homemade or purchased, such as cookies, cupcakes, brownies, cakes that can be cut up, donuts and donut holes.
• Containers of hot chocolate (not the single serve packages in box)
• Spray whipped cream containers
• Small plates, napkins, paper towels, garbage bags
• Candy canes
Donations may be dropped off at the Milford Community House at the light in Milford, 201 Broad Street (the old library location) across from the Dimmick Inn anytime through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If anyone wishes to volunteer a little time to help hand out cocoa and baked goods, email info@pikechamber.com to let them know for planning purposes.
The request for help comes from The Milford Community House, Pike County A.B.A.T.E., Milford Fire Department, Dingman-Delaware Middle School Choir, The Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Milford Garden Club, Milford Lions Club and the Winter Lights Festival.
The fun starts at dusk
The beloved annual celebration features free hot cocoa and cookies for children of all ages. Enjoy a performance by The Dingman Delaware Middle School Chorus under the direction of Brian Krauss beginning at 4:30 p.m. Then join the ceremonial countdown and lighting of Milford's Christmas tree at 5:15 p.m.
Hundreds of trees lining the downtown streets will light up for the rest of the holiday season in this charming mountain town.
As part of the countdown, Santa Claus will arrive on top of Milford Fire Department's Engine 33 with a very cool team of reindeer on motorcycles from the Pike County PA chapter of ABATE.
Come out for a great evening with friends and family and enjoy extended shopping hours, open house celebrations and dining throughout town.
