Dr. Pete Obeng to help create 'happier, healthier' work environment
EAST STROUDSBURG — Dr. Pete Obeng was recently hired to lead the Pocono Medical Center’s Occupational Medicine Program, which provides health and wellness care, from pre-employment physicals and health screenings to work-injury treatment for all local employers.
“The Occupational Medicine Physician has the unique responsibility of restoring function to injured workers and at the same time remaining vigilant against fraud and abuse of the workers compensation system,” said Dr. Obeng. "A great day at the office is when an injured employee or worker has been restored to full work capacity, the employer has maintained productivity, and my team and I have done our best to provide high quality and cost effective care."
Before joining Pocono Medical Center, Obeng served as medical director of occupational medicine at U.S. Healthworks in Reading, Pa. He was a primary care provider for more than 1,000 soldiers in the Battalion Surgeon, 82 Airborne Division for the U.S. Army in Iraq, as well as a quality assurance officer for the U.S. Army in Fort Gordon, Ga.
Currently, the Occupational Medicine Program at Pocono Medical oversees the health of more 350 local businesses and 1,900 employees.
“With Dr. Obeng’s addition, our Occupational Medicine Program offers a robust, comprehensive service to local employers with the potential to create a happier, healthier work environment for Monroe County,” said Heidi Signore Primary Care Practice Administrator at Pocono Medical Center.
