English teacher Mike Mady’s sixth-grade homeroom in F5 at Delaware Valley Middle School showed significant generosity during the school district’s annual Holiday Food Drive. In early November, after learning about the food drive, the class set a goal of collecting 500 items.

At a steady pace, the class reached 399 items by Dec. 11. That same day, they placed second in the Door Decorating Contest. The next day, the class voted to donate their $50 prize to buy additional items to meet their 500-item goal. In the end, the class donated 509 items to the food drive, the most of any homeroom this year.

These students showed dedication, thoughtfulness, and altruism towards the local community.
