Milford. Because the Milford Garden Club enhances the community’s quality of life in many ways, DVA! Action donated $500 to support the club’s scholarship fund.
The Milford Garden Club awards a scholarship each year to a graduating senior at Delaware Valley High School who shows an interest in horticulture or conservation. The club will be selecting a recipient in the spring.
Pat Hendershot, the club’s scholarship chair, works with DVHS to get applications from eligible students. A small committee reviews them and awards a scholarship of $1,500 to one recipient.
The club also works to beautify the community and stock the food pantry.
“Numerous members of the club take on the delightful task of planting and maintaining areas throughout the town with seasonal annuals,” said DVA! Action in announcing the award. “Urns are placed at 25 strategic sites in town and adorned with an array of seasonal plants. The Milford Garden Club has dedicated themselves to maintaining three parks in Milford.”
The club’s Community Garden donates fresh food to the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Milford.
