Editor’s note: The following results show how Pike County residents voted in state and federal races. The original article in print and online neglected to include the statewide tallies to show the overall winners. Indeed, Pike County majorities largely voted for candidates who lost statewide. The Courier regrets omitting the overall results, which are provided below:
United States Senator:
Tom Smith (Rep) 57.1 percent (7,331 votes)
Bob Casey, Jr. (Dem) 40.8 percent (5,243 votes)
Rayburn Douglas Smith (Lib) 2.1 percent (270 votes)
OVERALL WINNER: Bob Casey, Jr. (Dem) with 53.6 percent of the vote.
Attorney General:
David Freed (Rep) 53.8 percent (6,843 votes)
Kathleen Kane (Dem) 43.0 percent (5,474 votes)
Marakay Rogers (Lib) 3.2 percent (400 votes)
OVERALL WINNER: Kathleen Kane (Dem) with 56.1 percent of the vote.
Auditor General:
John Mayer (Rep) 58.3 percent (7,318 votes)
Betsy Summers (Lib) 5.2 percent (651)
Eugene Depasquale (Dem) 36.5 percent (4,588)
OVERALL WINNER: Eugene Depasquale (Dem) with 49.7 percent of the vote.
State Treasurer:
Diana Irey Vaughan (Rep) 56.4 percent (7, 069 votes)
Patricia Fryman (Lib) 4.6 percent (577)
Robert McCord (Dem) 39.0 percent (4,892 votes)
OVERALL WINNER: Robert McCord (Dem) with 52.5 percent of the vote.
