EMT training schedule released

Lords Valley. Pike County residents will be reimbursed for training.

The Pike County Department of Public Safety has announced its fall EMT course. This training program is free to personnel from Pike County emergency service agencies or fully reimbursed for all Pennsylvania residents, according to the Department.

The course will run from August 15 to November 16 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Zoom options are available for select classes.)

The training will take place at the Pike County Training Center, 135 Pike County Blvd, Hawley (Lords Valley).

EMT students receive training in:

- Basic knowledge and skills needed to provide safe patient care in a variety of scenarios

- Airway management, respiration, and artificial ventilation

- Medical and trauma assessments

- Handle various medical emergencies and trauma situations (respiratory, cardiac, poisoning, psychiatric, environmental, etc.)

- Understand EMS operations and specialty situations such as Haz-mat, terrorism, and MCIs

Anyone who successfully completes the training will be qualified for both the Pennsylvania and National Registry EMT certifications.
