GAIT Equine Assisted Services recently announced the launch of its new Veterans Fellowship Program, made possible through the support of the Robert H. Spitz Fund of the Scranton Area Community Foundation. According to GAIT, this initiative provides veterans with “a peaceful, supportive space to connect with fellow veterans and horses every Friday afternoon.”

The Veterans Fellowship Program offers a free, non-clinical environment where participants can engage with veteran mentors and one another in activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and trust. Veterans will spend time grooming and walking GAIT’s horses through wooded trails, experiencing the healing power of nature and the transformative connection with these gentle animals. The program also includes horsemanship activities and concludes with a shared community meal — lunch is provided.

“You can come once or every week, whatever works for you,” said Eva Warner, executive director of GAIT. “We are honored to provide veterans with a safe, welcoming space to connect with nature, our horses, and each other. This program is about fellowship and community, where veterans can find peace and support without the stigma of traditional therapy.”

GAIT welcomes all veterans to join this program, which takes place every Friday from 12 to 2 p.m. at GAIT Equine Assisted Services, 314 Foster Hill Road, Milford. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact GAIT at info@gaittrc.org or call 570-409-1140.
