“Barbara Buchanan was a longtime supporter of the community. This grant opportunity underscores the legacy of commitment Barbara had to her community and to the causes she held dear,” said Jess Zufall, the Greater Pike executive director.
Greater Pike’s first fund was the Barbara J. Buchanan Fund, established in 2014, and it has subsequently provided financial support to more than 20 local organizations.
Barbara joined the Greater Pike Board of Directors when the organization was first formed, helping guide the organization through critical early years. She also was the first community member to be honored at Greater Pike’s annual gala, which established a precedent for Greater Pike to honor philanthropic leaders each year.
