The Center for Developmental Disabilities of Pike County (CDD), which provides educational and behavioral support to children with developmental disabilities in the Milford area, has been awarded $13,248 in scholarship funding from Greater Pike Community Foundation to cover summer pre-K costs for 10 children. According to Greater Pike, this funding “ensures that families can access essential services at minimal cost, particularly during the summer months when financial support is limited.”

The tuition assistance comes from funds that Greater Pike administers via Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Contributions to Greater Pike enabling these scholarships came from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, UGI Utilities, Wayne Bank, and The Dime Bank.

“CDD is deeply grateful to Greater Pike Community Foundation and the participating companies for their generous support,” said Jo Ann Donnelly, executive director of CDD. “This funding allows us to continue providing high-quality educational services to children in our community, regardless of their families’ financial circumstances.”

CDD offers tailored educational environments that meet the unique needs of children facing developmental disabilities and delays.

Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program offers tax credits to corporations that contribute to scholarship organizations and other nonprofits involved in underwriting educational opportunities for low- and middle-income students. Greater Pike’s EITC effort is part of a partnership among the foundation, Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development, and eligible companies.

“Greater Pike would like to extend our thanks to the companies that provided these funds, and to encourage other companies to participate in this impactful program,” said Rick Little, executive director of Greater Pike. “These donations help local kids and families while also offering tax incentives for the participating companies.”
