Gross — but awesome!

— Our class has been studying the life adventures of owls. A part of the daily life of an owl is the obnoxious habit of coughing up and regurgitating an owl pellet.

What is an owl pellet? An owl pellet is a ball of the leftover remains of their food that is hard to digest. Gross!

When we carefully opened up the owl pellets we found skulls and other bones of all sorts. Unfortunately, the bones were mixed in with the most unbelievable mixture of undigested fur, scales, and skin. It was a lot of work to separate the bones from all the other material. Some students found as many as three skulls in one pellet!

We glued the bones on a piece of paper to display them.
