Hawley. Recovery Stigma Simulation offers first-hand understanding
The Recovery Stigma Simulation is a ground-breaking initiative designed to offer participants a first-hand understanding of the stigma and challenges faced by individuals navigating the early stages of recovery from Substance Use Disorders. It will be held on August 16 at the Pike County Training Center, 135 Pike County Blvd. in Hawley from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Simulation consists of four, 15-minute cycles designed to imitate the chaos often experienced by individuals in early recovery. Participants may feel uncertain or confused during the Simulation - this is intentional, as it is designed to mirror the uncertainty and unpredictability that those in early recovery encounter. Participants who feel unsure of their roles or need further clarification are strongly encouraged to ask for assistance.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. registration and participants must arrive no later than 10:30 a.m. to ensure full participation. Late arrivals will not be permitted.
Upon completing the Simulation, there will be a debriefing to discuss and process the experience. All participants will be asked to complete a Post-Test, providing vital feedback that will aid us in refining the simulation and further our understanding of stigma associated with Substance Use Disorders.
This unique opportunity will not only broaden perspectives on Substance Use Disorders and recovery, but also contribute to a larger societal understanding. Participation and insights will be invaluable in breaking down barriers and overcoming the stigma surrounding recovery.
