Honesdale. Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Mammography Services re-accredited
Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Mammography Services, part of the Radiology Department has received another three-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
The ACR evaluates clinical exams for performance criteria and assures patients of the highest level of image quality and safety by documenting acceptable performance measures for equipment, medical personnel and quality assurance.
Annual mammography screenings are recommended by the ACR beginning at age 40 for women of average risk. Higher-risk women should consult their medical provider about starting screenings earlier and may benefit from supplemental screening modalities.
