'Hooray for Hollywood' is Upper Delaware GLBT prom theme

— Dress to express at this year's Upper Delaware GLBT and Ally prom, which pays tribute to the silver screen.
In keeping with the "Hooray for Hollywood" theme, party-goers may come dressed as their favorite movie character, or as an attendee of the Oscars, or as a movie extra (which means anyway you want).
The theme was chosen by the youth of the community.
The dinner/dance, in the ballroom of the Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing, will feature the audacious local celebrity “Sugar,” with music provided by DJ Flow and Hot–Traxx Entertainment.
Formal pictures will be taken, and there will also be a photo booth provided by Flash Shack. All are welcome to attend this community event.
The UDGLBT praises the Milford area as a "strong and vibrant community":
"The UDGLBT is pleased to host this event in the Upper Delaware region as it has embraced its organization and members. The appreciation for the great value in living in a community with diverse people is apparent in the respect that is shown to all and by sharing in and attending UDGLBT events. The greater Milford area is a model that others in society should follow, as it allows for the full and free participation of all....
"We hear from the adults in our community how they would like to help our LGBTQ/Ally youth. Well it's simple, as in the past, be a hero, by attending the prom and giving our young adults something to aspire to while having the best time ever — ask last year's attendees."
No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Anyone who needs help may email cary@udglbt.org.
For those who would like to help an adult or young adult attend the event by sponsoring a ticket or making a general donation, visit udglbt.org or send a check to: UDGLBT, PO Box 1295, Milford, PA 18337, or email cary@udglbt.org.
The Upper Delaware GLBT Center is a private, non-profit organization that provides services to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer community and Allies in an effort to support, empower and encourage acceptance.
Editor's note: An ally is a straight person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, LGBT social movements, and challenges homophobia and transphobia. For more information see related article: http://bit.ly/1SGsucM.
