Late daughter’s yarn stash donated to a good cause
Milford. Jennifer Kalish Malzahn’s trove of yarn, books, and accessories will help Project Linus volunteers stitch blankets for children in need.
Jennifer Kalish Malzahn loved and cared for everyone she met. She also loved to crochet.
She made beautiful crocheted blankets, memory blankets, and carry bags that she gave as gifts. She formed a network of people from around the world to share granny squares with one another.
When she passed away there was a large supply of yarn, books, and crochet accessories left behind.
In her memory I have been looking for the best use of that material. Some was given to the Port Jervis library for their craft group, but when Covid struck those groups were unavailable.
I am so pleased to have found the perfect charity for all that yarn and equipment: Project Linus, which is a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need. The blankets are made by a national network of volunteers and distributed to hospitals, shelters, etc., for children that need them.
Editor’s note: Rosann Kalish of Milford is the mother of Jennifer Kalish Malzahn, who died last December at the age of 48.
