Lawson J. Hawke, a graduating senior from Delaware Valley High School, was awarded the 2024 Margaret Mary Jonas Memorial Scholarship at the Delaware-Dingman Twps. Democratic Club’s (DTDC) Margaret Mary Jonas Memorial Scholarship Dinner held on Sunday, June 9 at the Failte Restaurant in Dingmans Ferry. Pike County Commissioner Christa Caceres gave the Keynote Address and State Rep. Tarah Probst, (D-189) presented the scholarship and a citation from the PA. House of Representatives. Lawson will be attending Marywood University in the fall, majoring in exercise science with a minor in coaching.

DTDC Chair, Dr. Cheryl R. Glenn, remarked on the 17-year history of the club’s scholarship program and the pride that it brings to the club’s members. This year, the Scholarship Committee was made up of the club’s young members. For the first time ever, the club received 17 essay entries. “The students put a lot of effort and thought into these essays. But Lawson’s topped them all. We hope going forward, more students will participate in this non-partisan scholarship program.”

The DTDC Margaret Mary Jonas Memorial Scholarship program consists of the High School Scholarship award of $1,000. The main focus of the scholarship is to help parents and graduating high school students defray some of the cost of books and materials.

“We congratulate Lawson on his achievements and wish him the very best going forward,” the DTDC added.
