Library’s annual fundraising and community service award dinner announced
Milford. Luke Turano of Turano Insurance & Financial will be honored during the dinner.
The Pike County Public Library invites the public to come to its annual Fundraising and Community Service Award reception on August 29 at the Milford Branch of the library. This year, the library will celebrate Luke Turano of Turano Insurance & Financial for his support of the library and many other nonprofits and community events throughout the county. This event contributes to approximately 10% of the library’s annual budget.
Aside from support through the dinner, the library encourages everyone to stop by and sign up for or renew their library cards and check out the library’s latest offerings. In addition to its extensive collection of books, the library provides access to two apps, Libby and Hoopla, for borrowing eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, and more! Additionally, you can pick up museum and cultural passes, access passport services and WIFI hotspots, and enjoy an engaging exploration and play area for children. The library’s latest addition, the Library of Things, lets people borrow various useful items for a limited time, such as a stud finder, an automotive code fault reader, a sewing machine, a paper shredder, a metal detector, and more! The library also hosts a myriad of programs for adults and children at both its Milford and Dingmans branches. These include story time, book clubs, crochet and rug-hooking groups, mahjong, take-and-make projects for kids and crafty adults, artist workshops, and more. Please explore the library website to see the variety of offerings for all ages and interests.
To continue providing these and new services to the community, the library asks for the public’s support through sponsorship, advertising in the program, or purchasing tickets for the August 29 reception. Anyone looking to become a sponsor is asked to fill out a sponsorship form available through the library and return it by August 10 to Rose at the Milford branch or return by mail to 119 E. Harford St., Milford, PA, 18337, or via email at director@pcpl.org. Tickets are available now at both library branches and online at pcpl.org.
There are many ways to support the library, including naming opportunities for the new Children’s Room. With a $1,000 donation, you can recognize or memorialize your family name, a loved one, or a business with a name on the book mural. Additionally, the library has one opportunity remaining to name a study room for a $25,000 donation. For more information, contact executive director Rose Chiocchi at director@pcpl.org.
