Milford. The audience cheered as police officers escorted gadfly Matthew Contreras from the library.
The March 17 Delaware Valley school board meeting had just started when Contreras challenged the board president, Jack Fisher, to add another topic to the agenda. Fisher said the time to do that was just two minutes away.
But Contreras steamed ahead, talking over Fisher and insisting the agenda item be added immediately. Fisher asked Contreras several times to wait but Contreras refused, leaning forward in his chair and pointing his finger at the board.
At Fisher’s request, school police officers then escorted Contreras out of the meeting.
Fisher said Contreras would have a chance to speak at the April 7 work session, which will be unrecorded unless the board schedules a vote.
Contreras has been a recent fixture at school board meetings, where he talks about culture war issues in education and the evils of vaccine and mask mandates. “What is the administration doing as far as disciplining teachers for gestapo-like mask enforcement?” he asked at a meeting in November, for which he was also expelled.
