Math Counts team wins trophy for 'Most Improved'
DINGMANS FERRY — The Dingman Delaware Middle School Math Counts team received a trophy for the Most Improved School in the chapter competition held Feb. 25 at Wyoming Valley West Middle School in Kingston, Pa.
The team improved its team score by 22 points over last year.
Connor LaMarca placed fourth overall in the individual competition and five in the Countdown Round, a jeopardy-style round in which the top ten individuals compete.
One-hundred and sixty four students from 18 schools in the Northeast Math Counts Chapter competed for a chance to attend the state competition.
The competitors from DDMS were: Connor LaMarca (grade 8), Troy Geisel (grade 6), Mason Melo (grade 6), and Miles Nienstadt (grade 6).
Additional "Mathletes" from DDMS competing in the individual competition included sixth-graders Natalie Davila, Nyla Salah, and Sadie Subedi.
