Meet the candidates for Matamoras mayor
MATAMORAS. Residents will have a new mayor for the first time in 12 years.

Two candidates who have never before held elective office in Matamoras are running for mayor.
Republican Cory Homer and Democrat Lena Marinaro are lifelong Matamoras residents with plenty of local civic experience. The winner will fill the seat held by the longtime mayor, Janet Clark, who was first elected in 2011 and is now serving out her third term.
The term is for four years.

IMPORTANT DATES
Oct. 23: Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot.
Oct. 31: Last day for county boards of elections to receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots (must be received by 8 p.m.)
Nov. 7: Election day
Nov. 8: Last day for county boards of elections to receive voted military and overseas absentee ballots (submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 6).
