If it’s clean-up time again, you know that spring has arrived.
Spring signals a new beginning, and the the Milford Enhancement Committee (MEC) has been heralding the arrival of the season for many years. They want to show the town off at its best.
This year’s event is set for April 22 and volunteers are asked to be at the Community House at Broad and Harford Streets by 9:30 a.m. The event is also sponsored by the Grey Towers Heritage Association (GTHA) and this year they will be honoring the Milford Garden Club for all their service to the community and for making Milford beautiful. All tools and lunch will be provided.
“We are looking to reach anyone who lives, worships, shops, eats, worships, etc. in Milford to come out and help clean up our town,” said Eileen Smith who does double duty as vice president of the MEC and president of GTHA. “We will target the business district, our parks, entry points to town, as well as the Community House.”
GTHA will be providing T-shirts and water and hopes that having the event-being held on Earth Day will make everyone a bit more environmentally conscious.
While an event like this usually takes a village to carry out, Smith said she sees it as taking a county to carry out, since Milford is the county seat and people from all the surrounding townships come to town to enjoy everything the town has to offer.
