Milford community gathers to give thanks
Milford. Congregants from area churches and other locals came out for this festive service.
Residents filled Milford’s Borough Hall Sunday, November 19, to attend a community-wide Thanksgiving service. The service, open to all, was led by Reverend Jennifer Lovallo of Milford United Methodist Church and Reverend William Stewart of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
Abraham Lincoln’s original Thanksgiving Day Proclamation was read, along with Native American prayers and readings from the Hebrew Bible.
The Community Choir was present to lead everyone in singing the traditional Thanksgiving song, “We Gather Together.” Members of the local group, Unity in the Community, provided refreshments following the service.
When asked about this service, Reverend Lovallo said, “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to partner with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and Reverend Stewart. Having a community Thanksgiving service has been a dream of mine since I first came to Milford. To see it realized with such wonderful people in such a beautiful way brings me true gratitude.”
