The 2025 Milford Township budget was passed December 16 at the Milford Township Supervisors meeting. Although there are some 2024 funds carrying over, finances were described as lean going into the new year. There are no funds available to be set aside and accumulated for things such as building upkeep, the supervisors said. As it stands now there was mention that if, for example, the transfer taxes collected are low again in 2025 there may be a need to have a tax increase in 2026.

The Supervisors continue to be mindful of residents in their planning and spending. They said $100,000 has been provided to the township through LSA (Local Share Account) funding. The grant money will be used for improvements to the Township building, including paving the parking lot, increased security measures, and creating a more handicap-accessible environment. The LSA was established by the commonwealth through the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act.

A quote for fidelity and crime insurance will be sought from HA Thomson Co. The new policy would cover employee theft not already covered by other insurance or bonds. The premium cost is estimated to be between $500 and $600 a year.

The supervisors are once again planning to honor Township volunteers, such as members of the planning board, for their hard work and dedication at a future planning board meeting. Well wishes were extended to Tom Shepstone of Shepstone Management Company, Inc. as he retires. Shepstone has a long relationship of working with Milford Borough and Township on various projects. His company’s work can be viewed on the Township website under Milford Township Comprehensive Plan Draft.
