Elisabeth C. Heij: Safe Haven
MILFORD — Elisabeth C. Heij, LCSW, has been promoted from interim executive director and named Safe Haven of Pike County's new executive director.
Safe Haven says that in her interim role, Heij saw the organization through the worst part of the current budget crisis, determined to help in maintaining services and keeping the agency’s doors open.
“I am aware that this is a transition period for this organization, this county, and this state," said Heij. "One of the important things we must do during times of transition is to pause, reflect and remember our individual and collective strengths, and to re-clarify our focus and our mission. In doing so, we stay dedicated to eradicating violence through prevention, empowerment, and the promotion of social justice. I still believe that safety and the restoration of hope are the foundations of wholeness, and that it takes a county and a team to achieve this."
Safe Haven of Pike County works to eradicate domestic violence, sexual assault, and other serious crimes through prevention, empowerment, and the promotion of social justice. Services for victims are free and confidential. For help, call the 24-hour hotline at 570-296-4357.
