The Grove: A Creative Commons is a new, local nonprofit dedicated to creating space for the community to gather, create, and grow through the arts.

President Megan Berens explains that the initiative is led by several Blooming Grove residents brought together in their shared desire for a “third space.” “We want to offer somewhere between work and home, where residents of all ages and backgrounds can find belonging and personal enrichment,” said Berens.

The Grove will hold fundraising events throughout Pike and Wayne counties over the next several months, partnering with local artists, organizations, and businesses as it raises money for a space of its own. The envisioned facility will provide multifunctional space for classes and cultural events, an outlet for artists and craftsmen, and a casual gathering spot. Berens hopes it will “serve as a community hub and place of connection for locals and visitors who, while treasuring the tranquility the area provides, desire common ground.”

Funds will be raised through personal and corporate donations, event revenue, and government and foundation grants. The Grove’s inaugural fundraiser, The Loveliest Night of the Year, will feature dinner and a performance by musical duo Bella Voce at Hunter Valley Restaurant on February 13. Other events include a music festival and family picnic later this spring. Those interested in learning more and partnering with The Grove can learn more at thegrovecc.org.
