Olsommer, Probst take oath of office
Milford. Both representatives were sworn in on Tuesday, January 7.
In a ceremony at the state Capitol on January 7 commemorating the start of the 2025-26 legislative session, state representatives Jeff Olsommer (R-139) and Tarah Probst (D-189) were sworn in to begin their second terms with the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
For Pike County, District 139 includes Milford, Westfall, Dingman, Shohola, Blooming Grove, Palmyra, Greene, Lackawaxen and Matamoras, and District 189 includes Delaware, Lehman, and Porter townships.
Upon taking the oath of office, Olsommer said in a press release, “I look forward to continuing to work to help Wayne and Pike counties, and the entire Commonwealth remain a great place to live, work and raise a family. I am committed to improving the quality of life for all residents and I’m ready to represent my neighbors’ interests to tackle the challenges we face in Pennsylvania.”
Olsommer’s announcement noted his areas of focus: reducing taxes and crime, advancing “pro-growth policies,” working with school districts “to fully empower and educate tomorrow’s workforce,” helping first responders get the resources they need, defending the rights of fetuses, and protecting the Second Amendment.
In a separate announcement, Probst said, “It is with a sense of pride that I took the oath of office to continue representing the people of Monroe and Pike counties. I thank them for their confidence in me and I promise to work hard for them and to be transparent, whether it’s in the district or in Harrisburg.”
She added, “As a member of the House Democratic majority during my first term, we made historic investments in education, which will allow local school districts to reduce property taxes. We also voted to help seniors, families and businesses across Pennsylvania. We look forward to expanding on that progress by teaming with Gov. Josh Shapiro and the state Senate to make our state a better place to live and work.”
