Pike County Light & Power Company announces natural gas rate decrease
Pike County. A decrease of 25% becomes effective Nov. 1.
Customers of Pike County Light & Power Company (PCLP) will see a gas cost rate decrease of 25%, effective November 1, 2023. Pike County Light & Power Company’s President Michael I. German announced the significant reduction in the utility’s gas cost rate for SC 1 residential customers.
“With wholesale natural gas costs falling, PCLP has reacted quickly to reduce its gas cost rate charge. Customers should see the reduced rate in their November usage bills issued in December, just in time for winter,” German said.
Utility bills are comprised of two primary rates: the delivery charge, and the gas cost or supply charge. The delivery charge covers the costs associated with installing, upgrading, and maintaining natural gas infrastructure, and is approved by the Pennsylvania Utility Commission. The gas cost charge is the price PCLP pays suppliers for natural gas. Beginning November 1, 2023, PCLP’s residential gas cost charge will decrease from $1.13827/Ccf to $.85422/Ccf.
