PUC to investigate PCL&P’s request to increase electricity rates
Milford. As with its halt of PCL&P’s proposed gas rate increase, a decision will be made by October 2025.

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has voted to suspend and investigate a proposed rate increase by Pike County Light & Power (PCL&P) for electric distribution service in portions of Pike County.
The Commission voted 5-0 to investigate PCL&P’s proposal to increase its annual operating revenues for electric distribution service by $1,874,600 (11.6%). According to PUC, under the proposal, the average bill for a residential customer using 674 kWh per month would increase from $134.29 to $149.81/month (11.6%).
The rate increase request is suspended and will be assigned to the Office of Administrative Law Judge for review and a recommended decision. More information on the ratemaking process is available on the Commission’s website. A final PUC decision is due by October 15, 2025.
According to PUC, PCL&P provides electric distribution service to approximately 5,350 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Pike County.
PUC’s move to suspend this proposal is in addition to a separate request by PCL&P to increase natural gas distribution rates.
