Secret gardens, revealed
By Frances Ruth Harris
MILFORD — The rain intensified the colors in the secret gardens of Milford, where alternate worlds, more ethereal than our own, awaited,
To linger among the gardens was to enter into the spirit of each one.
The Milford Garden Club's annual self-guided "Secret Garden Tour," held this year on July 15, is a self-guided journey that begins at Remembrance Place, There, at the club's own, and very lovely, garden center in Milford, you will find a specimen of the Milford Rose.
Some gardens are dedicated to perennials native to the area. A medicinal garden grows plants instrumental in healing and maintaining good health.
Each ticket holder received a tour map with pink or green arrows numbered to correspond with the seven gardens on the tour. Each garden had one or more guides to help navigate parking.
Visitors stayed as long as they wanted to among the ponds, pools, sculptures, wood carvings, waterfalls, towering trees, and exquisite blooms that made each garden a haven of hidden delights.
New garden club members are always welcome. For more information call Liz Steen at 570-686-1080 or email her at millfordgarden@gmail.com.
