SHOHOLA — The Shohola Boy Scouts Troop 76 are planning their fourth annual Shohola-Barryville Bridge 5K Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, starting out from Rohman Park, 120 Twin Lakes Rd., Shohola.

The fundraiser for Troop 76 began in 2012 as the Charles "Chuck" Melloh Memorial 5K Run/Walk. Melloh, who died suddenly in October 2011, was the charter organization officer for the troop and a longtime supporter of both scouting and his local community.

"Chuck had a vision for his community where everyone would help each other and work together to make Shohola a great place to live, work and play," say the Scouts. "It is his vision of our community that served as the inspiration for the Pumpkins in the Park Festival and this race, which serves as the kickoff for that event."

Proceeds from the Run/Walk will support the Troop's program activities, with a portion also be donated to the Ecumenical Food Pantry in Milford.
