Two deserving families got a little extra help paying for their children’s preschool tuition this summer with funding from Greater Pike Community Foundation.

The Malone and Macali families were both awarded pre-kindergarten scholarships for their children to attend the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD) preschool program in Milford. The students will receive more than $1,100 in tuition assistance from Greater Pike’s Pre-K Scholarship program, which is funded through a partnership with The Dime Bank, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

"We are pleased to support early childhood education in Pike County for a second year in a row through these scholarships," said Jenni Hamill, Greater Pike’s executive director. "Also, due to the generous support from our community-minded partners, The Dime Bank and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, we still have additional funding."

Any family with a child attending a preschool program at either CDD or Green Trees Early Learning Center meeting the eligibility criteria could receive a partial or even full tuition scholarship to attend.

"I encourage families to inquire about the application process by either contacting Greater Pike or one of the two participating schools," said Hamill.
