The Upper Delaware Council held its 27th annual Family Raft Trip under sunny skies and excellent paddling conditions on Sunday, Aug. 2, attracting 88 guests, including 12 children ages 5 to 12. The Nichols family from Jefferson Township, N.J. — (pictured, from back): parents Dan and Vickie, son-in-law Adam, and daughters Taylor (front left) and Ashley — launched from Kittatinny Canoes’ Luke’s Landing Base in Barryville for their seven-mile float down the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River to Pond Eddy. The non-profit organization representing the partnership of land, water, and people traditionally holds its public raft trip on the first Sunday of August to promote stewardship and enjoyment of the nationally-designated river it works to conserve.
