Cocaine, pills seized from Matamoras home
Matamoras. Three people were arrested.
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Pike District Attorney’s Unlawful Narcotics Investigation Team (U.N.I.T.) served a search warrant on a house at 95 Tenth Street in Matamoras. According to Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin, the search warrant allegedly yielded about two ounces of cocaine, numerous pills, $1,865 in cash, scales, and packaging materials.
The three individuals charged were John Cavalone, 39, Luke Cavalone, 42, and Tammy Holmes, 49, all from Matamoras. According to Tonkin, John Cavalone was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, both felonies. Luke Cavalone was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, and endangering the welfare of children. Tammy Holmes was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.
According to Tonkin’s announcement, the arrests were part of a month-long investigation into drug sales at that property. A cocaine bust in Port Jervis was also connected to the case and prompted the search of the Matamoras property.
During the search, investigators also noted that two children lived in the residence; they were turned over to Pike County Children and Youth Services.
Tonkin’s unit was assisted by the District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division detectives and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, with additional help from the Port Jervis Police Department and Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Tonkin said, “As our partnership with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Port Jervis Police Department grows stronger in the fight against drug traffickers in the Tri-State Area, it means bad news and prison time for the traffickers and good news for the community that the traffickers are off the street are not peddling their poison and ruining the neighborhoods of our community.”
All three individuals were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Paul Menditto and incarcerated in the Pike County Correctional Facility in lieu of posting bail.
