Dispositions in Pike County Court

Milford. Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the criminal sentences issued on June 17 by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak.

Adam Okyay Degroot, 19, of Lake Ariel, Pa., was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $600 for the crime of Theft and the Summary Offense of Criminal Mischief. On Jan. 29, 2021, Degroot and another individual broke into a concession stand in Palmyra Township taking various items with a total value in excess of $200.

George Henry Adelhock, 63, of Milford, Pa., was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police observed Adelhock swerve multiple times across his lane of travel along I-84 in Dingman Township on March 26, 2020. Adelhock was observed to have glassy, bloodshot eyes and emitting the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Field Sobriety Tests indicated impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .212%.

Maria Adelaida Adam, 47, of Hawley, Pa., was sentenced to 180 days to 10 years in a state correctional facility, fined $3,500, and had her driver’s license suspended for 36 months for 2 counts of the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police observed Adam unconscious behind the wheel of her vehicle at a school bus stop along Forest Ridge Drive in Lackawaxen Township on Oct.17, 2019, with her vehicle running and in gear. Adam was observed to have glossy eyes and emanating the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Field sobriety tests showed impairment. Adam refused to submit to a breath test. There was a minor child present in the vehicle. Public Safety alerted the state police on June 24, 2020, that Adam had been driving unsafely and was unconscious behind the wheel of her vehicle along Forest Ridge Drive in Lackawaxen Township. When contact was made with Adam by the trooper, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed Adam to have bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Field sobriety tests indicated impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.208 percent in her body.

Allen James Simonson, 38, of Port Jervis, N.Y., was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Game Commission alerted the state police on Feb. 25, 2020, that Simonson was in the woods off of Route 6 in Shohola Township acting in a suspicious manner. Simonson was found in possession of hypodermic needles.

Mark Andrew Schrader, 40, of Pine Bush, N.Y., was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $500 for the crime of Retail Theft. On Aug. 19, 2020, Schrader took a computer with a retail value of $549 from a retail store in Westfall Township without paying for it.

Kayla Marie Napoli, 24, of Port Jervis, N.Y., was sentenced to 18 months of probation and fined $200 for the crimes of Theft of Property Lost, Mislaid, or Delivered and Retail Theft. On Aug. 5, 2020, Napoli and another individual took possession of a handbag that had been misplaced in a retail store in Westfall Township, and which contained $182.00 in U.S. currency and assorted personal items, making no attempt to locate the owner. Napoli also left the retail business with a Play Station having a retail value of $150 without paying for it.

Jarrett L. Griffin, 42, of Bushkill, Pa., was sentenced to a fine of $300 for the crime of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On Aug. 2, 2019, the state police were dispatched to a residence in Lehman Township where Griffin was found in possession of various articles of drug paraphernalia including prescription pill bottles, baggies used for the storage of illegal substances, and a metal spoon.
