Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin recently announced the following criminal sentences issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak:

Yocasta Aracelis Rivera, 33, of Newfoundland was sentenced to 15 to 31 days in the Pike County Jail and fined $200 for the crime of resisting arrest. On November 20, 2023, the state police arrived at a residence in Greene Township to take an individual into custody on a PFA violation. While walking the arrested individual to the trooper car, Rivera allegedly began screaming and ignored the trooper’s request to stop. Rivera then shoved the trooper, per the police report, and fought attempts to place her in handcuffs.

Valerie R. Post, 42, of Dingmans Ferry was sentenced to 86 days to six months in the Pike County Jail and fined $200 for the crime of resisting arrest. The state police responded to a residence in Delaware Township on August 30, 2023, where Post was reportedly involved in a domestic disturbance. When placed under arrest, police claim Post resisted, requiring “substantial force” to overcome her resistance. Post was also sentenced to an additional 19 days to 12 months in the Pike County Jail to run consecutive to her prior sentenced and a fine of $200 for the crime of disorderly conduct. The state police were dispatched for a domestic dispute involving Post on December 2, 2023, wherein Post was allegedly banging on someone’s door after being asked multiple times to leave the property.
