Probst invites residents to discuss I-80 expansion
Pennsylvania. The free event will take place on Nov. 9 in the Stroudsburg High School Auditorium.
State Rep. Tarah Probst (D-189) is asking residents to join her for a Nov. 9 Town Hall conversation about the impacts of the proposed expansion of I-80.
“I have been concerned about this project since my time as mayor of Stroudsburg and I continue to believe that expanding the highway will have many detrimental effects on the borough and surrounding communities,” said Probst. “I set up this town hall so everyone can be aware of what will happen to our area if I-80 is expanded as currently proposed by PennDOT.”
Probst’s announcement highlighted a few key concerns, including the closing of two exits, emergency service response times, traffic congestion, local taxes, sound walls being built, hospital access, the impact on local businesses, and the use of eminent domain.
The free event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the Stroudsburg High School Auditorium, located at 1100 W. Main St. in Stroudsburg. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Probst will be joined by officials from the Stroudsburg borough, emergency services, business owners and more. She also said a representative from the governor’s office will be in attendance to listen to the concerns of attendees.
More information is available by contacting Probst’s office at 570-420-2850.
