Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer, a platform where cancer patients, survivors, and supporters share their stories, recently announced its official transformation into a nonprofit organization.

“This milestone marks an exciting chapter in our mission to inspire healing, hope, and resilience in the cancer community,” said Tim Sohn, founder and president, who is an 18-year survivor of chronic myeloid leukemia, a blood cancer. He is also a resident of Shohola.

According to the organization, it was founded with the goal of “letting cancer patients, survivors and supporters know they’re not alone and to encourage them to share their stories when they’re ready.”

Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer started as a weekly, global livestream show. It now includes books such as “Perspectives on Cancer: Cancer Patients, Survivors & Supporters Share Their Stories” and “Perspectives On Cancer: Stories of Healing, Hope & Resilience,” as well as the book “Perspectives On Invisible Illnesses.”

As a nonprofit, the organization plans to expand its impact through livestream shows and in-person events; by providing resources, tools, and access to compassionate spaces for those affected by cancer; and by offering informative content to help navigate the emotional, physical, and logistical challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

”This transition to nonprofit status allows us to amplify our mission of creating safe, inclusive spaces for those navigating the complexities of cancer,” said Sohn. “We’re committed to ensuring no one faces cancer alone.”

The nonprofit organization welcomes contributions from individuals, businesses, and partners who share its vision. As part of its growth strategy, Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer seeks sponsors for its events, livestream shows, and overall operations.
